I’m just sitting here watching Dobby die, like a normal Sunday. And one thing I admire about Dobby that I don’t think is portrayed very well in the movies is his love for serving others. Regardless of race, gender, age, or species. It makes me wonder how House Elves became enslaved. It seems like they genuinely love to serve others and over time that cause their enslavement. But also, their magic is so underrated. Whenever Harry asks Dobby about his magic his answer is always “I’m an Elf” like, #DuhHarryPotter.

I understand that in Elf law it’s bad that Dobby is free but also, he saw the terrible life he was living and that he needed to get out. He didn’t ask to be saved but Harry saw that Dobby is worth more. Dobby never stopped serving and loving and caring for others. The part of him that was taken for granted by others was his strongest quality and he loved more once he was freed.

I love that he never asked questions either. He just did it. For someone who was abused and hurt and wounded to turn around and still trust, love, and serve others is amazing!

It makes me so sad that Winky was forever lost after she was freed. Although she “failed her family” because she could no longer serve them she had lost the opportunity to serve so many others.

Be like Dobby. Others will abuse you and hurt you and belittle you because of your talents and gifts and the parts that make you special. Don’t let them stop you from doing what you love and don’t let them walk all over you because they are jealous. You are beautiful and unique. Know that there are people who will save you if you need it. You do not have to do it on your own. Know that you can save others too with your love! Your magic is special and different in the most wonderful way! Don’t take it for granted and don’t wasted on those who don’t care. You deserve more because you are worth more.
